Throughout the warmer months we are able to welcome a small number of tents and campervans. The perfect place for escaping the crowds and as a base to explore this magical part of Cornwall. Our campsite has basic amenities, with toilets and a warm shower, as well as a simple washing up station and recycling area.
If you’re looking to escape the crowds and the simple pleasures of outdoor living and nature, this is the perfect campsite for you. With the sound of happy lambs, birdsong, this small rural farm offers a unique backdrop to your holiday.
Our little campsite is situated on a traditional Cornish Sheep farm featuring a 16th century original thatched farmhouse. As this is a sheep farming campsite (the best kind) we felt it would be wrong not to pay homage to the rich heritage and history of this noble tradition. So as our jewel in the crown of this small campsite we have built a couple of luxury Shepherds Huts to take pride of place overlooking our ewes, lambs n rams, the Atlantic ocean, The Lizard, Porthleven and surrounding countryside.
Each shepherds’ hut is built to keep you snug as a bug through the colder months and cool throughout those hot summer days. Each hut is equipped with: Kitchenette; fridge, sink, gas hobs. Bathroom; flushing toilet, heated towel rail and hot shower and sink. Living area with comfy seating, wood burner and stunning views out from the double doors (glazed) as well as a usb charge point for all of your electronic devices. Bedroom: Cosy double bed so you can relax in style and get a good nights sleep after busy days exploring this amazing part of Cornwall.
Camping and Campervan Pitches:
We also have available 3 campervan pitches (off grid) and 5 tent pitches situated in another beautiful field a bit closer to the site parking and farmhouse. Here you have flushing toilets and a warm shower for all of your personal requirements as well as a simple washing up station and recycling area (as part of our greener camping organisation rules we ask that everything that can be recycled or composted is placed into the relevant bins which are provided for you on site)
With stunning views of the Lizard (Englands most southerly point) Loe Bar, Porthleven and the stunning Atlantic ocean as well as the surrounding countryside. With our limited camping and campervan pitches we can ensure you will have all the peace and privacy that you desire on our little piece of paradise.
We are situated on the beautiful Trewithick farm just outside of the traditional fishing port of Porthleven. Porthleven is a treasure trove of history steeped in fishing folklore and has been home to a hardy fleet of fishermen for centuries. Porthleven is also a food lover’s dream with a host of wonderful restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes. There are several chip shops including ‘Landed’ which is a connoisseur take on traditional fish and chips shops, a gourmet coffee shop, luxury deli as well as a large convenience store and post office for all of your essential requirements.
There are some great pubs including the famous ‘Ship Inn’ which is little changed in centuries and offers the perfect combination of cosy traditional pub, great food and drinks, unbeatable atmosphere and stunning views of the harbour and breaking surf .
Porthleven is also a wave watchers paradise as the shelved beaches and overhanging cliffs provide the perfect amphitheatre for huge crashing waves whenever there’s a storm in the Atlantic and you can spend hours watching the surf crashing over the tops of the nearest houses and harbour…just make sure you stay well back!
This is true ‘Poldark’ country and the walks/cycles available locally are a real connoisseur’s selection. From the nearby Rinsey with its old mining engine houses which went out under the ocean, wild horses running free and views of the crashing surf against the beaches and cliffs you will think you have stepped into an episode of the iconic television production.
